Eagles signing Bryce Huff to three-year deal

Monday at noon was the start of legal tampering in the NFL, and the Eagles got started with a bang.

Former New York Jets edge-rusher Bryce Huff is signing a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Eagles once free agency opens. The deal includes $34 million guaranteed. This will make Huff the highest-paid non-QB undrafted free agent in NFL history.

Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the news.

The Eagles have been probing opportunities to trade Haason Reddick and/or Josh Sweat in recent weeks. With the addition of Huff, it would be surprising if both of them returned.

Huff, turning 26 next month, is coming off a career year. While he was a situational pass rusher who played just 42% of their defensive snaps, Huff still recorded 10 sacks and 21 quarterback hits. The Eagles have locked him up for his prime with this contract.

Huff went undrafted out of Memphis in 2020 and signed with the Jets and gradually gained a role. After 7.5 sacks in his first three seasons, the 6-foot-3, 255-pounder had a breakout year in 2023. The Eagles obviously expect him to continue that type of production.

Huff in 2023 recorded 10 sacks, 21 quarterback hits, 67 pressures on only 334 pass-rush snaps, 86.8 pass-rush grade (highest on Jets), and 22.9 pass-rush win % (best in NFL).

This could be a steal at $51.1 million. Great signing by general manager Howie Roseman, and they only got better.
