The Philadelphia Flyers (27-19-6) began their second of a three-game homestand against the Pacific conferences’ own Seattle Kraken (21-19-10) at the Wells Fargo Center this evening. The Flyers have been hot as recently taking down the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday in a 4-1 victory, and have stretched their winning streak to 2 since coming back from the All-Star break.

The Flyers began their matchup with Scott Laughton being fed a pass by Cam York with 15:24 left to go in the first, Laughton was able to rocket through the arms of Joey Daccord to put the Flyers ahead early 1-0. The Kraken though were able to respond with 2:51 seconds remaining as Tomas Tatar was able to dish a strong wrist shot from the middle of the ice that turned the game even at 1-1. Flyers moments later in the period rebuilt their off a clean wrist shot from the faceoff circle by Ryan Poehling with only a minute and 46 seconds to go in the 1st.

The 2nd period was lackluster in terms of scoring as defense prevailed heavily over this period. The Goalies, Calvin Petersen and Joey Daccord showed out in this period as shots were 24-19 through 40 minutes of play.

Jared McCann led the period off quickly as only 36 seconds into the 3rd he was able to secure a puck past a heavily contested section of the ice that was able to sneak above the shoulder of Calvin Peterson for a goal that once again led us back to even at 1-1. Sean Couturier with 14:30 seconds to go was fed a pass by Travis Konecny off the faceoff that he was able to put past Joey Daccord for the Flyers lead at 3-2. Flyers’ Defense held strong through the latter half of the 3rd as the Kraken offense couldn’t amount to any plays meeting a lockdown defense on Philly’s end of the ice. The Flyers were able to hold them off in the late seconds even with their empty net man advantage and as time trickled down Scott Laughton in pursuit of a stray puck into the Kraken end was nearly milliseconds away from a goal as the game ended.

The Philadelphia Flyers were able to put away the Seattle Kraken 3-2 extend their win streak to 3 and set them up for a big matchup against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center.
