Trade Deadline Targets: Andre Drummond

We are less than 24 hours from the NBA’s trade deadline, and there are lots of rumors flying around the 76ers. One, in particular, could lead to a reunion.

The Sixers have “registered interest” in acquiring Chicago Bulls center and former Sixer Andre Drummond, according to a report from Marc Stein.

The 30-year-old Drummond is averaging 7.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 16.2 minutes per game for the Bulls this season. Over his last 20 games, Drummond is averaging 10.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals. He is considered to be the most likely player to be traded on a Bulls team that is rumored to be very much open for business.

He spent 49 games with the Sixers in 2021-22, excelling as the team’s backup center behind Joel Embiid before being a part of the James Harden trade with the Brooklyn Nets at that year’s deadline.

With Embiid now being sidelined for at least the next four-week future with his left meniscus injury, the Sixers could very well be in the market for a guy like Drummond who can not only back up a healthy version of Embiid but try and fill the hole that he has left.

While a player like the Utah Jazz’s Kelly Olynyk, who the Sixers have been linked to, could make more sense, Drummond is a more ideal guy that could help the Sixers stay afloat over the next couple of months.
