Sixers Annihilate Hornets, Embiid Scores 42

The Philadelphia 76ers destroyed the Charlotte Hornets 135-82 on Saturday Night in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Joel Embiid had a monstrous 42 points in only 29 minutes on Saturday. This marks the 9th out of the 22 games Embiid has played where he has sat out the 4th quarter. This is also the 11th straight game where the former MVP scored 30+ points. That is his career-high and the franchise record.

The Sixers are now 18-7 and hold the 3 seed in the East and the 2 seed in the Atlantic Division.

To have 42 points and 15 rebounds is unbelievable for somebody who played all 4 quarters, yet Embiid was able to do this without playing the 4th. Embiid has continued to dominate through the first 25 games and is already playing like he deserves back-to-back MVPs. Philadelphia jumped out to an early lead against the Hornets and ran with it. After the 1st quarter, Philly led by 16 points and by the time the 2nd quarter ended, the Sixers had extended their lead to 29. In the 3rd, the 76ers were winning by 41 and Philadelphia eventually finished things off with an astounding 53-point victory. This was the Sixers’ largest margin of victory since 1970.
