Bounce Back Win — Eagles Dominate Dolphins on Sunday Night Football

Can the Eagles wear the Kelly Green jerseys every game? After a frustrating loss against the Jets, the Eagles bounced back in a big way with a dominating 31-17 win.
The Eagles finally played a complete game, and they are back to looking like the team we all thought they would be.
The Eagles’ Defense is Officially Good
While the Eagles’ defense had been playing well, there was some concern because they had not played a good team yet. Well, that changed tonight. Against the NFL’s number one offense, the Eagles held them to just 10 points. This was an incredible performance from Sean Desai’s unit. The Eagles were dominant against the run, allowing negative yards in the first half. The defensive line also did a good job of getting to Tua, as he was sacked 4 times. Tua had been sacked just 6 times in the 6 games prior, so it is impressive the Eagles were able to get home as much as they did. With Reddick being fully healthy, and Carter back in the middle, the defensive line seems to be rounding into form.
The Eagles’ secondary deserves a lot of credit tonight as well. Besides the one deep pass to Tyreek Hill, they were able to keep the Dolphins receivers in front of them. Darius “Big Play” Slay made a big play tonight with a clutch red zone interception. Un-drafted rookie Eli Ricks got some snaps in the slot tonight and he made the most of them. Hopefully, he can keep playing well and the Eagles can move forward with a cornerback group of Slay, Bradberry, and Ricks.
The biggest knock on former defensive coordinator Johnathan Gannon was that he was never able to beat a good Quarterback. In his first opportunity against a good Quarterback this year Sean Desai did not just beat him, he dominated him.
Up and Down Night From Hurts
When you see the final score of 31 points you would assume Jalen Hurts played a great game. While he played a good game, his turnover problem has continued. Hurts has turned into a turnover machine this season, and he added to that with a fumble and a pick-six tonight. Hurts is lucky that the pick-six did not come back to bite him, but he has to get this under control. If the Eagles want to do anything this season, Hurts needs to stop turning the ball over.
An extremely positive sign was how Hurts responded to his interception tonight. After the pick-six, Hurts led the team right down the field and threw a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown. Jalen showed the ability to flush his mistake and keep going without being affected by it. Last week he let the turnovers snowball on him, while tonight he did not. He then also made a special deep throw to A.J. with a man in his face. That is the Jalen we saw last year, and the Jalen we need to see moving forward.
History for A.J. Brown
It is about time A.J. Brown gets the recognition he deserves. A.J. caught 10 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. This game was his fifth straight game with 125 yards or more, which tied the NFL record. Last year he set the Eagles franchise record for receiving yards, and he is on pace to shatter that record again this year. Brown is already at 809 yards receiving and has been great in all phases of the game. The thing that makes A.J. so great is that he is so versatile. He can run the short slant routes, he can run the long go routes, and he can break tackles to score touchdowns. We are currently watching one of the greatest Wide Receivers in Eagles history, and he deserves to get more recognition.
