The D’Andre Swift Game — Eagles Move to 2-0

The Eagles went back to their bread and butter to pick up their second win of the season.
The star of tonight’s game was Philadelphia’s very own D’Andre Swift. Swift ran for 175 yards and a touchdown.
At a few points in the game Eagles fans were taken back to old memories of LeSean Mccoy with the jittery illusiveness of Swift.
The Eagles put the ball in his hands and he carried the offense on his shoulders. There should be no doubt going forward, he needs to be the number 1 back.
While Swift dominated, Hurts struggled. Besides a long touchdown pass to Devonta Smith, Hurts was bad passing the ball in this game. The Eagles were not able to get anything going through the air in the first half, and they had to switch over to the running game.
It seems that Hurts is getting confused by the new defensive looks teams have been throwing at him so far. Luckily the Eagles have a long time until their week 3 game in Tampa Bay to try and get Jalen up to speed. But it’s not just reading the defense, Hurts struggled in other areas as well.
He finished the game 18/23 for 193 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Hurts has, in my opinion, been feeling fake pressure and leaving the pocket too early. It seems like he is bailing the pocket early, instead of just stepping up into an open area. Hurts also had a confusing interception early in the game, along with missing some throws.
It is only week 2, but after 2 games it’s fair to be somewhat concerned about Hurts. We are past the point with Hurts where these types of performances are ok. He is a top-paid QB in the NFL, and he needs to play like it.
In the offseason, it was seen as disrespectful by most Eagles fans if someone did not rank in their top 3 of Quarterbacks in the NFL. Through two games he has not played like a top three QB. If the Eagles are going to win in the playoffs it is going to have to be through the air, and they need to take this mini-bye to try and get the passing game right.
Yes, it’s only week 2, but Hurts has to be better.
While the Eagles defense did cause 4 turnovers, they also let up 346 yards passing to Kirk Cousins. My biggest concern with the defense going forward is injuries. The Eagles had a few players miss tonight’s game with injuries, and a few more got injuries in the process of this game. If there is one thing that can derail this season it is injuries.
With the Eagles not playing again until Monday, September 25th, hopefully, it will allow some players more time to heal.
The Eagles have not played up to their standards so far this season, but 2-0 is 2-0.
