Bounce back — Vikings @ Eagles Week 2 Preview

0

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Josh Jobe (28) druing a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be playing their first Primetime game of many against the Minnesota Vikings in Philadelphia on Thursday Night.

This will be a matchup between one of the best receivers in the league Justin Jefferson and one of the best Quarberbacks in the league in Jalen Hurts.

It’ll be a hard-fought battle, but here’s what to look for in tonight’s game:

Weaker Coverage

Both Reed Blankenship and James Bradberry will be out with injury for Thursday’s game. This will have a big effect on the Eagles’ coverage as now Josh Jobe and Sydney Brown will take over for them.

While Jobe and Brown aren’t bad, they definitely don’t live up to how good Bradberry and Blankenship are.

Nakobe Dean is also out for at least the next 4 weeks, so that will also be a hole that needs to be filled.

Jalen Hurts Bounceback

Last week against New England, Jalen Hurts only threw for 1 TD with only 170 passing yards. Expect a much better performance against the Minnesota Vikings.

Hurts has been clearly hungry to win and he’s not going to settle with lackluster performances.

Hurts likely will try to get the ball to his star receivers AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Tight End Dallas Goedert. I’d expect at least a 250-yard game with 2-4 touchdowns for last year’s MVP runner-up.

Jalen Carter Monster Game

Jalen Carter showed how strong he is early on in the Patriots game last week. He got to Mac Jones a league-leading 8 times this past week and doesn’t seem like he will be slowing down.

If Carter can get to Kirk Cousins even half the times he got to Jones, it would still be an excellent game.

Expect Jalen Carter to tear down the weak Minnesota Offensive Line, taking down Kirk Cousins multiple times
