The Eagles lost their first game of the year on Monday night against the Washington Commanders. They know will take on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The Eagles look to turn things around at Lucas Oil Field, and while they may be questions about how the team will bounce back, the Eagles are in a better place then ever.

What is the Mindset for This Week?

Jalen Hurts had a spectacular postgame interview after the loss on Monday Night. He mentioned, at the beginning of the interview, “hungry dogs run faster.” This is a great quote because it truly means how much hunger and motivation there is when a team loses compared to when they keep winning. Teams that continually win can sometimes get comfortable and complacent. This can lead to sloppy play and poor performance.

Jalen then went on to say “it’s how you respond to the feeling of joy and how you respond to the feeling of pain.” Knowing when and how to lose is something this team needed. It felt like they were at a point where they thought they were indestructible.

The Eagles are still quote-on-quote the best team in the league, record-wise. But, they still have lots to prove. This team doesn’t want to stop at a good record in the regular season. They want to go all the way and prove that they can win the big games. All the critics have said that the Eagles have only won because they have an easy schedule.

How Will The New Additions Help The Run Defense?

During this week the Eagles added two veteran defensive linemen to the defense (Ndamukong Suh and Linval Joseph). Both big defensive linemen look to fill the gap in this defense. The Eagles’ struggle last week against the Commanders was the run. They let up 152 rushing yards.

Now in this upcoming weekend, the Eagles face up against one of the best running backs in the league. Johnathan Taylor had one of the best campaigns last season. He ran for 1,800 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. This will test those veteran guys and the run defense. It is a great test for them to see if it’s been a true issue or if it has just been a fluke.
