Another Playoff Nail Biter Another Playoff Hero in Union 2nd Round Win

While the weather may have been chilly, the Union remain hot with a second consecutive playoff win over Nashville SC in front of a packed, rowdy Subaru Park.
Still missing right back Olivier Mbazio, the Union weren’t quite at full strength yet. But that doesnโt seem to stop them. His replacement, Alvas Powell had a great game shutting down numerous Nashville players.
Relatively early into the first half, Nashville star Hany Mukhtar slotted one into the net. Luckily, the Union responded well and Daniel Gazdag got on the scoresheet right before the half off a corner.
The second half wasnโt full of many chances, however things were getting chippy and exciting.
At the end of 90 minutes, the score remained leveled at 1-1 and the Union were ready for another extra-time playoff game. Unfortunately, this extra-time did not come with a Jakob Glesnes wonder and no goals were scored.
With that, the game would be decided at the penalty spot. Now you may be wondering who this playoff hero is and the answer is the one and only brick wall, Andre Blake. With two ridiculous penalty saves, he led the Union to a 2-0 win in PK’s.
I wonโt forget Jack Elliotโs slot into the bottom corner to make the first pk of the shootout.
Also, 18 year old Jack Mcglynn comes up clutch with ice in his veins to make his penalty as well.
The Union will play the winner of New England Revolution and New York City FC next Sunday hopefully being able to host NYCFC. Letโs get Subaru Park just as rowdy next Sunday!
