At 1:00pm ET today the Eagles are taking on the New York Giants.
This is a huge game for everybody on this team, especially for head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts. With a win today the Eagles will take a wild card spot as the two teams ahead of them (Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers) are playing against each other today.
The Eagles are playing without Jordan Howard, who has been a key piece to this Eagles offense over the last few weeks. Thankfully, they still have Miles Sanders and the notorious Giant killer, Boston Scott. In just four games against the Giants, Scott has over 400 total yards and six total touchdowns. Scott seems to play really well every time he plays them, and with an increase in snaps today, that should be no different.
As I said before, this is a huge game for Jalen Hurts. Over the last few weeks he has really shown that he could be the QB of the future for the Eagles. Since week seven, he has the highest QBR in all of football. However, all of those games don’t matter if they can’t pull off the win today. After a Dallas Cowboys loss on Thanksgiving, the Eagles are now only two games back in the division. As crazy as it sounds, they could become legit contenders for the NFC East. It all depends on if Hurts can continue his much improved play.
This is also a huge game for Nick Sirianni. As a HC knowing you have to win this game, you have to call a perfect game. They should continue to run the ball as it has been working so well, the worry for Eagles fans is that he won’t due to Howard being out. They should definitely continue to stick to the same game plan as the last few weeks as it has been working so well. After all, the Eagles got back to back wins for the first time all season. Again, even with his improvements over the last few weeks, if he can’t pull off this win then the other wins don’t matter.
“We know if we win out we’re making the playoffs” – Miles Sanders. If the Eagles play with that mentality throughout the rest of the games this season, they have a legitimate shot. The heart they’ve shown over the last few weeks is really encouraging as an Eagles fan. These players wanxt to win and succeed for the city of Philadelphia. Let’s hope for the best in the most important game of the season so far, go birds!
