Phillies bring back former friend in deadline deal

Shortly after working out a trade with the Texas Rangers to bring in three pitchers, the Phillies reached a deal with the Baltimore Orioles to bring back infielder Freddy Galvis.
Phillies are sending Tyler Burch to Baltimore in the trade.
Galvis, who spent his first six seasons with the Phillies, should help their problematic defense.
He has appeared in 72 games with the Orioles this season, all at shortstop, and hit .249 with nine home runs and a .720 OPS.
It’s tough to see where Galvis will play. Didi Gregorius is the starter at shortstop, so it’s not there. Perhaps he’s more of a platoon with Alec Bohm at the hot corner, but at the very least, he’s a defensive replacement late in games for someone, a valuable resource for anyone who has watched this defense.
