Yu Darvish, that’s the man the 38-41 Phillies will have to deal with as they try and win the series Saturday afternoon against the 49-35 San Diego Padres.
Darvish (7-2, 2.44 ERA) has allowed two runs over his last two starts, both wins for the Padres, and has a 3.21 ERA away from Petco Park (2.12 ERA). Darvish has allowed only an unearned run in 12 1/3 career innings at Citizens Bank Park, which includes striking out 10 over seven shutout innings of four-hit ball in 2019.
So yeah, the somewhat struggling Phillies offense should have fun Saturday dealing with him!
Zach Eflin (2-6, 4.20 ERA) will get the start for the Phillies. Former Padres first-rounder is tied for the MLB-lead with 1.1 walks per nine innings, half his career rate of 2.2.
The Phillies are 5-10 in Eflin’s starts.
