The series has already been lost, but the 22-24 Philadelphia Phillies will try and not get swept by the 29-18 Boston Red Sox.
Here’s what to watch:
Harper gets an off day
Bryce Harper is out of the lineup Sunday.
Harper went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and one of them came with the bases loaded during that seventh inning Saturday night. He hit into a fielder’s choice with the winning run on base in the ninth.
Harper is 2-for-25 with 13 strikeouts and one walk over his last seven games, so he’ll receive a day off Sunday to reset.
Wheeler starts
Phillies starter Zack Wheeler is 2-0 with a 1.70 ERA in his last two starts. He’s also struck out out 40 and walked five batter in his last 37 innings of work. Wheeler’s fastball command has been excellent, which has allowed him to work consistently ahead of the count.
The Phillies have won each of Wheeler’s last three starts as he’s allowed two earned runs in 22 innings with 25 strikeouts and one walk.
Wheeler is 3-2 with a 2.52 ERA and 66 strikeouts overall.
