76ers win game 1 of the new season over the Wizards 113-107

The Philadelphia 76ers have defeated the Washington Wizards in game one of the 2020-21 NBA season 113-107. The Sixers dominated in the first quarter and then died, pretty much as they looked like a high school team in the second and most of the third quarter. They were leading by ten and then found themselves losing in the same quarter. It was quite a roller coaster of emotions. In the fourth quarter they scored 40 points and pulled out the win. Let’s go over this crazy win.

The Sixers started this game off hot with a 30 point first quarter. And I don’t really know what happened after that. This offense wasn’t great tonight. 113 points might seem like a lot, but it should be a lot more. Joel Embiid finished with the most points with 29 points and 14 rebounds. Ben Simmons had 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assits. Here’s the rest of the Sixers’ squad’s box score:

Harris: 10, 8, 0

Green: 2, 0, 2

Curry: 13, 0, 4

Scott: 3, 2, 0

Howard: 4, 10, 2

Maxey: 6, 2, 2

Thybulle: 0, 0, 0

Milton: 19, 1, 3

Korkmaz: 11, 1, 0

Danny Green and Tobias Harris were absolutely awful on Wednesday night. They were missing three-pointers, field goals, and pretty much everything. It was tough to watch, especially when Harris missed a key three-pointer towards the end of the game.

Shake Milton, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid on the other hand were great. The entire 76ers bench was great as they scored a combined 43 points out of 113. That’s pretty good, especially if you look back at past years, this is pretty amazing.

You may see Matisse Thybulle didn’t play very much as he went 0, 0, and 0. Well he played less than one minute. very strange decision as he also barely played in the preseason games as well. I guess Scott and Maxey have been playing so well that Thybulle wasn’t needed. Interesting.

The offense was iffy throughout the game, but sometimes they were good. That’s gotta be fixed so they have to be good all the time.

The defense. This defense could’ve been better, but for now it’s fine. Here’s some positives:

11 steals

8 blocks, including some big time stops

Only let Westbrook score 21 points. Yes, 21 points is kind of a lot, but for Westbrook, that’s NOTHING!

The defense was alright, but there is obviously room for improvement.

It was a pretty good game by the Sixers as, of course, there will have to be some improvement. 76ers will take on the New York Knicks Saturday night.
