Eagles Place G Sua Opeta on Reversed/Injured With A Bulging Disc.

The Philadelphia Eagles have placed G Sua Opeta on Reversed/Injured with a bulging disc. Opeta will need surgery on his back. His season is over.

This news is pretty unexpected because Opeta hasn’t shown any sign of an injury. Opeta was supposed to start at the top backup guard behind Isaac Seumalo and Jason Peters, but that will no longer be the case. Nate Herbig will likely be the next man up now due to this injury.

Opeta’s season is over. He’s finished his 2020 season started two games. Both of those games were against the New York Giants. He had 170 snaps in both games. Pro Football Focus has Opeta ranked 71st out of 89 guards (Pro Football Reference has Herbig placed at 42nd).

The Eagles losing Opeta is a good and bad thing for the Eagles. The bad is that they’ve lost a player. Obviously that’s not great. It’s good because this opens up another roster spot. Per Brandon Lee Gowton, the Eagles now have four roster spots open. And Eagles fans know what that means, practice squad time!
