The Eagles may never win again.
2026 continues to be the season from hell for the Philadelphia Eagles as injuries continue to pile up, and despite some players getting healthy, the losses continue to stack up. After going over four weeks without a victory, the streak continued on primetime Monday night, with a fifth straight defeat coming from their arch-rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys themselves have struggled this season, and both teams went into Monday night needing a victory. The expectation going into the game was that either the Cowboys offense or the Eagles defense was going to be the key to victory, and 38 points from Dallas was more than enough to pick up the 38-21 win.
Dak Prescott was near perfect, going 212 yards and throwing for three touchdowns, with CeeDee Lamb grabbing two of those touchdowns. Javonte Williams was dominant on the ground as well, rushing for 155 yards and finding the end zone as well. Vic Fangio’s defense allowed over 400 yards of total offense, with a near even split on the ground and in the air.
Philadelphia’s offense was good, not great, in the win, as they found the end zone three times themselves, one from Saquon Barkley, Dameon Pierce, and Makai Lemon, but the offense eventually slowed down, and there was no world where they were scoring over 38 points. The Eagles fall to 2-5, and with the way the season is trending, the season may be over before it even hits November.

After Philadelphia won the toss and deferred to the second half, the Cowboys offense showed up right away, most notably Javonte Williams, who broke off multiple big runs and pushed Dallas across midfield. However, two incompletions from Dak Prescott brought up fourth down, forcing the Cowboys to settle for a 55-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey for an early 3-0 lead.
While the Eagles were trailing early in the game, that deficit didn’t last long as the Eagles offense picked apart the Cowboys’ defense, needing just four plays to score their first opening-drive touchdown of the season.
Saquon Barkley, back from his hamstring injury, picked up a 12-yard reception on his first snap, and on the next play broke off a 29-yard run. Makai Lemon kept the drive going with a 21-yard catch, and one play later, Barkley broke to the outside and found the end zone for his first touchdown of the season.
Following the Saquon touchdown, the Cowboys offense answered back right away, mounting a nine-play, 82-yard touchdown drive to retake the lead. Backup running back Tyler Goodson got the drive started with a pair of runs, and Prescott found Ryan Flournoy open on the sideline for a 35-yard catch to get into Eagles territory.
Runs from Goodson and Williams pushed Dallas down inside the red zone, and on 3rd-and-2 from the nine, Prescott found CeeDee Lamb open in the corner of the end zone for the Cowboys’ first touchdown of the night.
Trailing one again by three points, the Eagles once again mounted a highly successful touchdown drive. Short runs from Barkley and Dameon Pierce moved Philadelphia across midfield, and an 11-yard reception from Hollywood Brown and a 17-yard reception from Darius Cooper put them in the red zone.
A roughing the passer penalty made it first and goal at the five, and on the first goal-to-go play, Pierce shimmied his way through the line into the end zone for the Eagles’ second rushing touchdown of the game, regaining the lead.
While the Eagles once again had a four-point lead, the Cowboys offense was once again rolling. Brian Schottenheimer went back and forth with run and pass plays, and Williams danced his way past the Eagles’ front line on runs, and Prescott continued to find open receivers.
After small gains nearing the red zone led to a 3rd-and-3 at the 21-yard line. On third down, Prescott stepped back and found Geroege Pickens open in the back corner of the end zone for the touchdown, giving Dallas the lead once again.
Following the four straight touchdown drives from the two teams, the offense cooled down as the next three drives resulted in punts. With just over a minute left to play in the half, Dallas had one more chance to extend their lead, and Pickens and Lamb did what they do best, picking up huge catches, setting the Cowboys in a goal-to-go situation with just over 10 seconds remaining.
While they managed to make it down to inside the 10, back-to-back incompletions forced them to settle for a field goal, making it 20-14 Dallas at the half.
Out of the break, the Eagles got the ball and put together a 17-play, 84-yard, over nine-minute opening half drive. Runs from Pierce and small grabs from Dallas Goedert got the drive going as Tanner McKee was locking in. The real go-to guy on the drive was Lemon, who grabbed three balls on the drive, with the last one being a twisting grab into the end zone for another go-ahead touchdown. The score was also the first career touchdown for Lemon.
However, following the touchdown and retaking the lead, things started going down for Philadelphia. Dallas, immediately following the Eagles’ opening drive, went right down the field as Prescott and Lamb hooked up for another touchdown, this time from 16 yards out to retake the lead. Dallas elected to go for two after the touchdown, which made it a seven-point game.

Trailing once again, the Eagles offense finally started slowing down as a three-and-out gave Dallas the ball right back, and they were able to add another field goal from Aubrey to make it a 10-point game.
Following the field goal, the Eagles were driving again, trying to stay in the game despite the deficit, but a great read from DeMarvion Overshown made McKee throw an interception into his hands. While Dallas punted following the turnover, the Eagles went four-and-out on their next drive, giving the Cowboys excellent field position.
Six run plays later, Williams eventually found his way into the end zone, needing almost no effort to score on the final run, extending Dallas’ lead to 17. With the game essentially over, the Eagles offense went out to try and get a pity touchdown to close out the game, but were unable to score, as Dallas defeated Phialdelphia 38-21, extending the Eagles’ losing streak to five. It’s the first time the Eagles have lost five or more games in a row since 2016.
