Heartbreak and disappointment yet again as the Eagles are stunned in London, losing their third straight game.

Nothing has seemed to be going right for the Eagles this season, and Sunday’s early morning loss to the Jaguars was much of the same, as despite holding a lead with eight seconds left, Philadelphia were losers for the third game in a row.

The Eagles offense once again struggled for the third straight game, failing to get any sort of rhythm going all game long. Jake Elliott’s field goal with eight seconds remaining in the game was the first points the Eagles have scored in the second half since Darius Cooper’s game-winning touchdown against Tennessee.

Philadelphia’s defense (and really the dumb decisions from Jacksonville’s offense) was the only reason the Eagles had a chance in this game. The defense made two goal-line stops and held Jacksonville to really just 16, as Parker Washington was the only real thorn in their side, scoring both touchdowns for the Jags.

The heartbreak for the Eagles came in the final 10 seconds of the game, as Elliott’s aforementioned field goal with eight seconds left was thought to be the game-winner, but a 53-yard return on the following kickoff set up a 57-yard game-winning kick from Cam Little, extending the Eagles’ losing streak to three.

Things got off to a hot start between the two teams when, on the opening kickoff, Jacksonville returner Josh Cameron took Jake Elliott’s kick 90 yards to the end zone for a kick-return touchdown. However, offsetting penalties nullified the touchdown, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Bryan Thomas Jr. were called for penalties after the play, ejecting both players on the first play of the game.

Following the scuffles, the Jaguars took the field for their first drive of the game, but a holding call on Jacksonville and a sniffed-out negative play from Jalen Carter backed the Jaguars’ offense back to a 2nd-and-40 scenario, and two plays later they were forced to punt.

After the punt, the Eagles’ first possession didn’t start out the way they hoped. The offense crossed midfield on a first down, but Philadelphia was stopped on a 4th-and-1, turning it over on downs on their opening series.

Jacksonville took advantage of the turnover, needing just three plays to find the end zone. The big scoring play came on a crossing route from Parker Washington, who took the catch 51 yards untouched for the first touchdown of the game.

After punt drives from both teams, the Eagles opened up the second quarter with a successful offensive drive. Jalen Hurts mixed in passes to Dallas Goedert and Dontayvion Wicks to keep the drive going, and small runs from Will Shipley and Dameon Pierce kept the ground game alive.

However, once Philadelphia entered a goal-to-go situation, the offense began stalling out, as a botched snap and a negative run from Pierce backed them up to a 3rd-and-Goal from the 17. The Eagles essentially got bailed out on the third-down play thanks to a pass interference call on Travis Hunter, putting Philadelphia on the three-yard line.

Two plays later, Shipley was able to find his way into the end zone, tying the game at seven.

Following the Shipley touchdown, the Eagles defense came up with a quick stop, mainly due to a massive strip sack from Carter, which unfortunately was recovered by Jacksonville, forcing a punt.

After the punt, Philadelphia finally picked up their first explosive play of the game, with Hurts finding Darius Cooper over the top, and after one juke, he took the catch all the way to the end zone for his fourth touchdown of the season. Cooper is tied for the second-most touchdowns in the NFL over the last four games with George Kittle, only trailing Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Finally with a lead, Philadelphia had just over five minutes to stop Jacksonville from tying the game before the half. Trevor Lawrence and co. got rolling with an 18-yard pass to Jakobi Meyers, a 16-yard completion to Washington, and a 12-yard run from Bhayshul Tuten, setting them up inside the red zone.

A pair of eight catches put the Jaguars down at the one-yard line, setting up 1st-and-Goal with 15 seconds remaining. Jacksonville was aggressive to get in the end zone, but Philadelphia’s defense was coming up big at the right moment, stopping a run on first down and forcing back-to-back incompletions.

With one second remaining, the Jags elected to go for the touchdown instead of taking the field goal, and that decision instantly backfired on them, as Zack Baun sniffed out the reverse play, tackling Tuten for a six-yard loss to end the half up 14-10.

Out of the break, the Eagles offense got first shot at extending their lead. However, second-half offense has been a struggle for Philadelphia as of late, as they’ve gone four straight second-half quarters without scoring a single second-half point, and the struggles continued early on as the offense went three-and-out to open the half.

On the following possession, Jacksonville managed to drive down the field and get into field goal range quickly. A 32-yard pass to Cameron was the first big one, and an 18-yard pass to Tuten put them right on the edge of the red zone.

Lawrence found Brenton Strange open for a 14-yard reception, putting them inside the red zone, but a costly holding call following the Strange catch stalled their drive, forcing a 34-yard Cam Little field goal to make it 14-10 Eagles.

Needing to get a successful drive going, Hurts found Wicks open for 19 yards to open the next drive, but quickly Philadelphia faced a 4th-and-3 right past midfield and elected to go for it. On the fourth down, Hurts was unable to hook up with Makai Lemon, forcing a turnover on downs.

Despite the turnover, the Eagles’ defense was able to grab one of their own as Quinyon Mitchell found his way in front of Brian Thomas Jr. and snagged his first regular-season interception of his career.

While Mitchell’s interception was a huge play, it ultimately led to nothing as Philadelphia ended up punting on their next two drives. Jacksonville, trailing by just four points, began what they thought would be a go-ahead drive, but the Eagles’ defense managed to force another turnover.

The Jaguars’ run game was looking sharp as Tuten and Lawrence picked up big gains to move the ball into Eagles territory, and a 27-yard catch from Strange set up 1st-and-Goal from the one again for Jacksonville. However, self-inflicted mistakes from the Jaguars offense kept moving the ball back, essentially setting up a 4th-and-Goal from the five.

The Eagles, with one goal-line stand in the game, picked up a second, forcing an incompletion and turning the ball over. With a chance to waste some clock and set up a victory for the Eagles, the offense did the opposite, burning just 50 seconds and punting right back to Jacksonville.

Five plays later, on another fourth down, Lawrence dropped back, and Washington made an outstanding one-handed grab in the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown. However, a missed extra point made it a two-point game, meaning Philadelphia only needed a field goal to win the game.

Their first attempt at a game-winning drive was unsuccessful as multiple incompletions forced an Eagles punt. Jacksonville needed just a first down to end the game, but an incompletion of their own on second down kept time on the clock for the Eagles, and a stuffed run forced a punt.

Back on offense, Philadelphia needed only 25 yards to get into field goal range for Jake Elliott. Back-to-back catches from Wicks picked up one first down to get to midfield, and a 17-yard catch over the middle to Goedert gave them more than enough distance for the field goal.

The Eagles felt they needed more room, picking up two more yards and managing to get the clock down to 12 seconds for an Elliott kick. Elliott drilled the kick, giving the Eagles a 17-16 lead with eight seconds remaining.

The game is not over yet, as Jacksonville’s kicker Cam Little has one of the deepest legs in the league, and on the return, Ameer Abdullah got the ball to the Philadelphia 39 with one second left, setting up a 57-yard field goal for Little.

Little destroyed the kick well through the uprights, putting the Jaguars ahead 19-17 and giving them the comeback victory. This is the first time the Eagles have had a losing regular-season record since December of 2021.
