Eagles’ Sloppy Offense And Defense On Display All Night As Bears Beat Eagles 27-7

Just an all-around embarrassing performance on both sides of the ball for the Philadelphia Eagles.
2026 hasn’t been the greatest-looking start to the season for Eagles football. Despite being 2-0, it may be the ugliest 2-0 ever, with one win coming down to a two-point conversion and a game-winning touchdown.
Heading into Week 3, Philadelphia got a “gift” with Bears quarterback Caleb Williams going down with a hamstring injury, forcing backup Case Keenum to start. Despite going on the road, it seemed like the Eagles were going to coast to a 3-0 start to 2026.
However, nothing is ever easy, and that showed as the Eagles got outcoached, outdisciplined, and just flat-out outplayed by the Bears, losing 27-7. The defense allowed Keenum to pick them apart all night long, as the backup threw for 247 yards and two passing touchdowns, while also running another one in.
The offense didn’t look great either, and three turnovers and one turnover on downs from the group were the huge difference makers as the Bears scored 10 points off the turnovers. The big kicker from the loss was the 10 penalties from the team, with four of them coming from the Eagles secondary.
Every drive on both sides of the ball just felt like a costly penalty was ruining whatever good things the Eagles were doing. It was a very rare type of night for Philadelphia, as they came into the game with just nine total penalties on the side, more than doubling their total on the season in just one game.
Monday Night’s game did not start off the way the Eagles hoped it would. After deferring the ball to the second half, the Bears and starting quarterback Case Keenum got to work right away.
Keenum dinked and dunked downfield to reach Eagles territory, but eventually hit a wall on a 4th-and-1 at the 32. Ben Johnson, known for his offensive aggressiveness, elected to go for it and, on the play, found third-string rookie tight end Sam Roush for 16 yards.
Three players later, Keenum shovelled a pass to Luther Burden who, thanks to the strength of his offensive line, shoved him into the end zone for the touchdown and the early lead.
The Eagles, down seven, finally got their first chance on offense and started it off with a few nice runs from Saquon Barkley, taking advantage of a weak Chicago front seven, but a costly intentional grounding penalty from Jalen Hurts killed their opening drive and forced a punt.
Chicago would answer Philadelphia with a punt on their next drive, but the Eagles would commit a costly mistake when Tank Bigsby fumbled, setting up a red zone opportunity for the Bears. A quick first down set up 1st-and-Goal, but two huge stops from the Eagles’ defense set up a 4th-and-Goal at the one-yard line.
Ben Johnson once again decided to stay aggressive, going for it on fourth down. However, Eagles corner Quinyon Mitchell read the play beautifully, breaking up the pass to Burden and turning the Bears over on down.
Following the turnover, the offense started hitting their stride, getting down the field by pounding the rock with Barkley, and Hurts hooking up with DeVonta Smith with a couple of nice catches. As the drive was about to enter the red zone, Hurts was hit late while running out of bounds and, due to the hit, was forced to come out of the game.
Backup Andy Dalton came on and did his job, handing the ball off to Barkley and letting him work. Unfortunately, a 3rd-and-goal passing scenario came up for Dalton, and he tossed a meatball over the middle of the field, into the hands of rookie Dillon Thieneman for an interception.
Following the pick, the Bears offense continued to dominate in the passing game, with Keenum hitting multiple 15+ yard catches, getting Chicago across midfield. However, a few negative plays stalled out their drive, and Cairo Santos nailed the 29-yarder to extend the Bears’ lead to 10.
The Eagles got the ball back with under two minutes to play, with no points and trailing by double digits. Hurts began the two-minute drill doing what he does best, finding Smith. Hurts hooked up with Smith for two catches and 39 yards, putting Philadelphia down inside the 10 with 19 seconds left.
A screen to Smith nearly put Philadelphia into the end zone, but he was short, forcing the Eagles to rush the line trying to spike the ball. As the seconds ticked down, Hurts realized he could not get the spike off, and elected to audible and tush push his way into the end zone just before the final second ticked off for the first Eagles touchdown of the game.
Eagles got the ball first out of the break, but a quick three-and-out ended that drive. Unlike Philadelphia on their first drive of the second half, Chicago put points of the board. Keenum continued to find his receivers wide open, and the drive only stalled out due to another pass breakup from Mitchell on the outside.
While they couldn’t get in the end zone, the Bears were close enough for Santos to nail a 48-yard field goal, making it 13-7 Chicago.
The Eagles offense continued to stall out with another three-and-out drive, and on the Bears’ following drive, found a blown coverage in the Eagles’ secondary. Keenum found Kalif Raymond wide open, and he ran his way into the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown, making it a 20-7 game.
Down 13, the Eagles needed points and fast, and unfortunately the drives just couldn’t develop. Philadelphia went three-and-out for the third straight drive to open the half, but managed to force a stop to keep them in the game.
The third quarter was winding down, and Hurts was driving the team across midfield. A 4th-and-5 came up down two scores; the Eagles elected to go for it. Hurts dropped back and got read like a book, throwing a pick into the hands of T.J. Edwards.
Chicago kept their foot on the gas following the interception, with Keenum dinking and dunking once again down the field, bleeding the clock. Eventually, they made it down inside the one, and Keenum snuck it in on 3rd-and-Goal for the touchdown, essentially ending the game.
Philadelphia had little time left to make a miracle happen and started driving once again. After a few huge passes from Hurts, a false start stalled their drive, a sack backed them up, and two terrible plays resulted in a turnover on downs.
With under five minutes left, the Bears began running the clock out with D’Andre Swift pounding the rock, picking up the first downs needed to waste the clock. A 4th-and-1 15-yard run officially iced the game, with Chicago winning 27-7, completing the embarrassing loss from Phialdlephia.
