Flyers Release 2026 Rookie Camp Roster and Schedule

The Flyers released their 27-man Rookie Camp roster, with this year’s group set to hit the ice on Sept. 11 before wrapping up on Sept. 16. The roster will include 15 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders, headlined by four platers who already have some NHL experience alredy: Porter Martone, Denver Barkey, Alex Bump and Jett Luchanko.

Camp will open with a single practice session at the PPL Center in Allentown. From there, the Flyers will face the New York Rangers rookies in back-to-back games Sept. 12 and 13 before the group will relocate to the Flyers Training Center for practices on Sept. 14-15 and a day off to close things out on Sept 16.

Martone will be the leader of the group after a nine-game NHL debut last spring that electrified the Flyers, producing four goals and 10 points, pushing them into the playoffs. He’ll be attending his first Rookie Camp after being at Michigan State at this time last year. Martone has made a habit of showing up to offseason camps he likely doesn’t need, but this is by design.

“For me, I’m still a young guy here,” Martone said. “I think I could use my learned experiences and my experience in the playoffs at the end of the stretch there with the Flyers to help everyone here. I still might be younger than some guys, but I think that’s valuable to me to come back here, be a leader, kind of show them what it’s like being a Philadelphia Flyer.”

Head coach Rick Tocchet has been careful not to place too much on Martone’s shoulders heading into his first full pro season, even though the rest of the league sees him as a Calder Trophy candidate before the puck has even dropped this season.

“I also want to make sure we temper the expectations,” Tocchet said. “I know there’s a lot of buzz around town. I want him to understand that he’s not the savior. We want him to just be Porter Martone. He’s a great kid. We’ve got to make sure we cocoon him a little bit and not put too much pressure on him.”

Oliver Bonk will headline the defensive group and will look to build on a late-season cameo as he pushes for a full-time blue-line job in main camp. He’ll be joined by Maksim Sokolovskii, who is looking to show a sneak preview of what his 6’7″ frame can bring to the team, before he heads back to junior hockey with London. Carson Bjarnason will return in net alongside the Flyers’ 2026 draft picks, Marek Sklenicka and Martin Psohlavec.

Two names will carry some extra weight coming in. Forward Owen McLaughlin, whose signing rights ran out last month, will be using this camp to impress the coaches before the Sept. 15 deadline runs out. In addition, 17-year-old Sawyer Dingman, a 6’3″ forward out of Swift Current, will be one of the group’s more physical additions after accumulating 98 penalty minutes last season.

For a camp roster this deep with NHL-adjacent talent, the two games against the Rangers will offer the coaching staff a look at who is ready to make a push for a job when main camp opens on Sept. 17.
