Phillies Reveal Uniforms For Field of Dreams Game, Lean on Historic 1939-41 Uniforms

With Major League Baseball’s third tribute to the 1989 baseball film Field of Dreams, the two teams playing in Dyersville, Iowa, have announced their throwback uniforms.
The Minnesota Twins will be the home team and will be wearing the original pinstriped uniforms they wore in the first years of their existence, with their classic “Twins” script across the chest and no name on the back of the jersey.
Since the Phils are the road team, and they have much more history to choose from, they have gone with a road grey look that was inspired by their 1939-41 uniform. What sets this uniform apart from anything the team has worn in previous throwbacks is the ornate red Phillies script that slants upwards and has a dark blue highlight behind it, giving it a very unique look. In addition to this, the same red and blue combo are used as piping down the center of the jersey.
Completing the classic look is the patch, which will be worn on the left sleeve of each player that commemorates the 100th anniversary of baseball. This is now disputed as to the actual genesis of organized baseball, but this patch completes the throwback of this jersey.
The Phils hat is a classic navy blue hat with the bright red “P” logo with the historic font that the team used early in the life of the team. This will be finished off with matching navy socks. Even though the uniform is made with modern materials, it has a classic look that would fit in perfectly with what the players in the movie wore, and what the Phils players wore at this time.
The MLB at the Field of Dreams game will take place on August 13 and be streamed live on Netflix.
