The 76ers will be without their All-Star for the next three weeks.

Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in his right pinkie finger and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. Maxey received additional images and specialist reviews after injuring his right hand Saturday in Atlanta.

Maxey suffered the injury with 25 seconds remaining of the Sixers’ 125-116 loss in Atlanta Saturday night. Maxey collided with Adem Bona, hit the deck, and was in major pain while grabbing his right hand. He was removed from the game and did not return. The loss dropped the Sixers to the eighth seed in the East, putting them in a Play-In spot.

Maxey, who was named an All-Star starter for the first time in his career this season, has carried a heavy load for the Sixers this year, averaging 38.3 minutes per game, the most in the NBA. The 25-year-old leads the team and ranks fourth in the NBA with a career-high 29 points per game. He scored 31 points on 12-of-22 shooting in Atlanta for the short-handed Sixers. Maxey is also the only player in the NBA with 100 steals and 50 blocks this season

The 76ers, who have lost three of their last four in a recent slide, will go on in their playoff hunt without Maxey, Joel Embiid (oblique), and Paul George (suspension). Embiid’s return date is unknown, and George is not eligible to return until March 23. The 76ers are eighth in the East going into their matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies Tuesday night.
