Eagles Bounce Back With Shutout Home Victory Over Raiders

The last three weeks have been some of the worst Eagles football in the last half-decade, and that’s saying a lot.
The Philadelphia Eagles were once the runaway favorites to take home the Super Bowl in 2025, and that has drastically changed. As the weather shifted into the cold month of December, the Eagles have fallen to an astonishing 8-5 on the season, losing three consecutive games for the first time since December of 2023.
While things have looked down, you eventually have to come up, and the Eagles finally did just that, taking care of business at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. Whether it was on offense, defense, or special teams, the Egales checked all the boxes in their 31-0 shutout victory over the Radier.
Jalen Hurts, coming off his worst game as an Eagle, looked exponentially better, tossing for 175 yards and three touchdowns, while Dallas Goedert had six catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Saquon Barkley looked good again, rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown, while the defense came to hunt, sacking Kenny Pickett four times and picking him off once.
Unlike many of the Eagles’ first offensive drives of the season, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley got the Birds going right out of the gate. Using a mix of short passes and runs, Hurts and Barkley moved the opening drive down the field into the Raiders’ territory. Down inside the 10, Hurts rolled out right and found Dallas Goedert open for a four-yard touchdown to cap off a 13-play, seven-minute drive.
Down 7-0, former Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett led the Raiders to their own 13-play opening drive across the midfield. Using their rookies, Ashton Jeanty and Jack Bech, the Raiders dinked and dunked their way to a 4th-and-6 at the Eagles’ 33. Electing to go for it, Pickett dropped back and couldn’t hook up with Tyler Lockett for a turnover on downs.
Back with the ball, the Eagles stayed hot, with Hurts hitting DeVonta Smith on a 44-yard deep pass, putting the Eagles back in Raiders territory. A pass interference penalty on Las Vegas set the Eagles up at the five-yard line, but after a small run, a dropped touchdown pass from Dallas Goedert, and a sack from Maxx Crosby, the Eagles were forced to settle for a field goal.
After two punts from the Raiders and one from the Eagles, Hurts had the ball back with just over eight minutes to go until the half. With more short runs from Barkley and Hurts, and two first-down catches to Goedert put the Eagles’ goal to go once again. After an eight-yard rush from Barkley, his number was called again, and Barkley broke through the line into the end zone to extend the lead to 17.
The Raiders, desperate for a score before the half, picked up a few first downs thanks to Brock Bowers, but back-to-back incompletions forced Las Vegas to punt to end the half.
Out of the half, the Eagles’ defense continued to dominate, as Pickett was stuffed on a third-down throw and Zack Baun stepped in front of a receiver for an interception. After the interception, Hurts hit Goedert on another big pass for 32 yards and a 14-yard pass to A.J. Brown to set up Philadelphia in the red zone again.
Barkley rushed for eight yards inside the 10, and a touch pass from Hurts to Goedert for another touchdown capped off the drive to make it 24-0.
Another punt from Las Vegas gave the Eagles the ball just before the start of the fourth quarter, and Barkley continued his big day with a run of 17 and 11. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Hurts dropped back and found Brown open over the middle for a 27-yard touchdown to blow the game open.
With the game in their hands, the Eagles’ defense forced another punt from the Rauder, and the offense pulled the starters. Tanner McKee led the Eagles down the field on an 11-minute, 17-play drive to essentially eat all of the remaining clock. The Raiders ran a few plays to tick down the final seconds as the Eagles picked up the shutout 31-0 win.
