The Schwarbarian is staying in Philadelphia!
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Philadelphia Phillies and Kyle Schwarber have agreed on a five-year, $150 million contract keeping Schwarber in Philadelphia through the turn of the decade. Schwarber, who will turn 34 before the start of next season, will earn $30 million a year, a record for a primary designated hitter.

Schwarber is coming off his greatest season not only as a Phillie, but the greatest season in his entire career. In 2025, Schwarber smashed 56 home runs, 145 hits, and 132 RBIs, all career highs, while posting a slash line of 365/.563/.928. The great season from Schwarber earned him his third All-Star appearance and finished him second in the National League MVP voting.
Since singing with the Phillies back in 2022, Schwarber has been a slam-dunk player for the Fightins. Schwarber has totaled 187 home runs, the most in the first four seasons with the Phillies, and has been a prominent player in the Phillies’ lineup over his time in the city.

Schwarber is the “unofficial captain” of this current Phillies core and has been the glue that keeps this team together. He is the person who keeps the vibes great, comes up big when they need it, and has been arguably their best player. Heading into free agency, the Phillies’ president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, made it clear that re-signing Schwarber was the team’s top priority and he keeps his word.
The Phillies have made the playoffs every single year that Schwarber has been a member of the team and will look to continue that streak and possibly go all the way and win a World Series.
