Yes, we all know who Tim Mayza is.
He was brought up in September when the roster expanded after being claimed off waivers from the Pirates, and threw 7.1 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and a homer while striking out seven. In his final two appearances, he tossed two scoreless frames against the Marlins and Twins, which earned him a NLDS roster spot over Lou Trivino.

The left-handed reliever could fit in a southpaw-short Phillies bullpen next season. Tanner Banks, Matt Strahm, and Jose Alvarado are the only lefties in there now. Mayza is also very good against left-handed hitting.
Mayza was on the injured list for much of 2025 with a left lat and teres major strain, and while he did post a 1.52 ERA in 53.1 innings in 2023 with the Blue Jays, those days might be long gone for the 33-year-old from Allentown.

FINAL VERDICT: GO
