The Philadelphia Eagles have started a new winning streak.

Just two weeks ago, the Eagles had an ugly showing on Thursday Night Football, where Jaxson Dart and the Giants ran right over the Eagles’ defense for a 34-17 win. This time, however, the Eagles kept their Kelly Green jersey record blemish-free, as they took control early in the first half and got all guys involved in this afternoon’s 38-20 victory.

The dominance came through even without the presence of A.J. Brown, who was out for today’s game with a hamstring injury.

The scoring did not take long, as Saquon Barkley put his concerning season start behind him and looked his part with a 65-yard rushing touchdown on the second play from scrimmage.

Barkley still seems to feel something against his former club in the Giants, as he wasted no time putting numbers on the scoreboard with a 17-second drive. This run is huge for his season, as his longest rush going into today sat at 18 yards, with a season average of 3.3 yards per rush.

The Giants, however, would respond with a decent drive of their own, after a missed field goal from Jake Elliott, who had been so excellent going into that game, making 6/7 kicks prior. The Giants took advantage of the missed field goal with the dominance of rookies Dart and Cam Skattebo, who have seemed to find something in their time together in New York. The drive was capped off with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Dart to his man in Skattebo, wrapping up a three-minute drive.

This duo would not see each other for much longer today, as Skattebo suffered a scary injury to his right ankle, causing him to get carted off the field. This is a huge loss for the Giants, as he is a core piece to their system. The City of Brotherly Love showed support for Cam as he was carted off.

The Eagles would score again to start the second quarter, not without controversy, however. On a fourth down with one yard to gain, the Eagles performed their signature tush push, of course. The play ended not with a clean first down but with a questionable outcome, after the Giants thought they had possession of the ball right after taking the ball out of Jalen Hurts‘ hands. The play was deemed forward progress, and the drive continued, resulting in the second Saquon touchdown of the half, a nine-yard pass.

After a New York field goal, the Eagles would end the half with another touchdown, this time to Dallas Goedert, who had not gotten any receptions prior.

The #1 spot for DeVonta Smith suited him good today, as he ended the first half with around 50 yards, showing his greatness regardless of size.

The second half did the Giants no justice, as both the offense and defense of the Eagles took control together for the rest of the day. Smith, Goedert, and Tank Bigsby all stood out and continued their afternoon excellence.

After trading off field goals in the third quarter, the Eagles grounded any hopes of a comeback with a second touchdown of the day for Goedert, who has shown to be a reliable target of late.

The Eagles would cap off a 14-point fourth quarter with a phenomenal touchdown from Jahan Dotson, who battled for a 40-yard touchdown. With Smith having his greatest game of the season, it was huge for Dotson to get involved in some way, and for it to be a highlight reel touchdown is even bigger.

Saquon exited the game mid-way through the fourth after grimacing following a long run to put the Eagles in a great position. He had run for 150 yards, but was able to be backed up by this season’s acquisition in Bigsby, who followed a 21-yard sack with a first down the very next play.

Tank would go on to rush for 104 yards in today’s game, adding on to the excellence of Saquon earlier.

Today, the Eagles’ receiving and rushing were the story for the offense, but the defense also had their dominance. The Eagles combined for five sacks today, their season high. Dart is a good young quarterback, so getting to him was key to stopping this Giants offense and taking away any confidence from the young squad.

Overall, both sides of the team played up to their standards and seemed to have only gotten better as the game progressed, a mirror of last season’s success.

The Birds travel up north to Green Bay for Monday Night Football, but get to enjoy their bye week this week after putting their two losses in the past, with two wins to respond.
