3 Bold Predictions for the 2025 Eagles Season

With less than one week until your Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles, raise the banner on opening night, I thought it would be fun to bring back one of my preseason favorites. Bold predictions.

While many things with the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles may seem obvious, I have put together three bold predictions for the 2025 season.

Jakorian Bennett Will Be the CB2 for Most of the Year

Coming into the offseason, it was widely assumed that third-year cornerback Kelee Ringo was poised to take over the open outside cornerback position that Darius Slay vacated. Ringo started off training camp by getting a ton of first-team reps, but as camp has gone on, those reps have become fewer and fewer.

Veteran free agent signing Adoree’ Jackson has been taking most of the starting reps in practice, and it seems like he has won the job.

The Eagles also traded for Jakorian Bennett midway through training camp. My bold prediction is that while Jackson seems to have the job now, Bennett will be the starter for most of the season.

Last year in Las Vegas, Bennett had a solid year, but he missed some time. Howie Roseman traded for Bennett for a reason, and I think there’s a chance that he will eventually win that starting job opposite of Quinyon Mitchell.

The Defensive Line Will Struggle, and Roseman Will Be Forced to Make a Trade

When you think back to Super Bowl 59, one of the first things you think about is how Patrick Mahomes was running for his life the whole game. Of that Super Bowl-winning defensive line, they lost Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Brandon Graham along the line.

While I think that Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt have great potential, I don’t know if they are ready to carry a Super Bowl-caliber defensive line. There have also been reports from training camp that the edge rushers they brought in during the offseason have not had a great training camp.

Having Jalen Carter in the middle will help, but I think that we may see Howie have to make a trade for an impact pass rusher before the trade deadline.

Cooper DeJean Will Transition to Safety Full Time

While this is not something I want to happen, it is something that I could see happening.

When DeJean was coming out of Iowa, there was a ton of debate on whether or not he could play cornerback in the NFL. Most of that debate was about outside corner, but right away, he showed he was one of the best slot corners in the league.

The Eagles traded away fan favorite C.J. Gardner-Johnson this offseason, leaving a hole at safety. While they drafted Andrew Mukuba in the second round, he has had multiple injuries throughout training camp. The Eagles during camp have been playing DeJean at safety in base defense. When there is a slot corner needed on the field, DeJean still slides back to the slot, but I would not be surprised if they decided to leave him at safety full-time this season.

While Mukuba has a ton of potential, him missing a lot of training camp is a big deal for a rookie, and there is a world where he still needs a year to develop, and they let DeJean line up next to his exciting partner, Reed Blankenship, for the whole season.

The Eagles have been trying to figure out ways to make sure DeJean is on the field as much as possible, and this is definitely an easy way to do that.
