With the Florida Panthers winning the Stanley Cup on Tuesday, all eyes are now on the NHL Draft, which begins on June 27th and runs through the 28th.

The Philadelphia Flyers, who finished fourth-to-last in the NHL standings, fell back in the lottery to the sixth overall pick. The Flyers have two more first-round picks, courtesy of the Colorado Avalanche and the Edmonton Oilers. These picks are the 22nd and the 31st.

The 2025 draft is an important draft, especially for Philadelphia, which has 11 picks in this year’s draft. Will the Flyers use all 11 of their picks? Possibly not, but they still have a good amount of early-round picks.

Here are rounds one through seven, barring any trades:

Round 1 Pick 6: James Hagens, C, Boston College

The sixth overall pick is going to be the most essential draft pick for the Flyers, making it the perfect time to strike for a needed position in the center.

Hagens, who was originally projected to be a higher draft pick, could very possibly fall into the Philadelphia Flyers organization. The Boston College forward posted 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points during the 2024-2025 NCAA Men’s season.

A center that has the ability to give the puck to the right man for the score will be needed, with the finishing talent of Matvei Michkov or Travis Konecny.

After his freshman season with the Boston College Eagles was a clear success, his crafty work with the puck would be a key piece to this Flyers rebuild.

Round 1 Pick 22 (COL): Malcolm Spence, LW, OHL

After three seasons with the Erie Otters, forward Spence had a career-setting season in 65 games played, as he tallied 32 goals and 41 assists for 73 points. On top of that, Spence had a rating of +10 and 57 penalty minutes.

Spence can also perform in a high-leverage situation (should the Flyers fight for the playoffs), with four goals and five assists in nine postseason games played.

With centers and left-wingers being needed, Malcolm Spence would be an essential addition to the Flyers.

Round 1 Pick 31 (EDM): Henry Brzustewicz, RD, OHL

Though Brzustewicz plays a massive factor on the defensive side for the London Knights of the OHL with a rating of +24, the right-handed shooter also makes a difference offensively, with 10 goals, 32 assists for 42 points, and 77 penalty minutes in 67 games played for London, ON.

A hybrid-style defenseman for the Flyers is key, as the Flyers lack star talent on the defensive side of the roster. A top line with Michkov, Sean Couturier, and Konecney backed up defensively by Travis Sanheim and possibly rookie Brustewicz dominating would be an understatement.

Round 2 Pick 36: Eric Nilson, C, SHL

In 37 games played for Djurgardens Jr, Nilson went over a point a game with 38 points and a rating of +22.

Something the Flyers lack and have lacked is a right-handed center, and Nilson could potentially play that role after a few years of development.

Round 2 Pick 40 (ANA): Kurban Limatov, LD, MHL

With Flyers left-handed defensemen such as Egor Zamula and Emil Andrae possibly on the chopping block this season, the Flyers may look to invest in a powerful defenseman such as Kurban Limatov.

Limatov could give the defense a new look with his style of play, ultimately changing the Flyers as a whole.

Round 2 Pick 45 (COL): Luca Romano, C, OHL

Though another Romano in the city of Philadelphia may be troublesome, Romano is another option for a right-handed center.

In 67 games with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL, Romano recorded 25 goals and 26 assists for 51 points.

With a few years of development with the Leigh High Valley Phantoms, it’s very possible that Romano becomes an asset to the Flyers.

Round 2 Pick 48 (CAL): Charlie Trethewey, RD, Boston University

The 200-pound American defenseman has shown a display of defensive skills during his time with the US National Development Team.

If the Flyers choose to go down this route, they have the chance to develop a big, strong right defenseman,

Round 3 Pick 68: Filip Ekberg, LW, OHL

Ekberg is a left-handed shooter who, in 53 games, posted 45 points with the Ottawa 67’s,

The Flyers continue to look for left-handed talent, so Ekberg could be a possible pick.

Round 5 Pick 132: Teddy Mutryn, C, USHL

Mutryn, who recorded 71 penalty minutes in 47 games, is another option regarding a right-handed center

Round 5 Pick 157 (CAR): Charlie Cerrato, C, Penn State

In 38 games, the Nittany Lion Cerrato posted 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in the Big 10. With being a center, this is a very possible option for the Flyers.

Round 6 Pick 164: Jordan Charron, RW, OHL

In the OHL, Charron put up 21 points in 48 games this past season, which could possibly round out the Flyers’ 2025 NHL Draft.
