Eagles add Syracuse gunslinger QB Kyle McCord in 6th round
Senior Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord is honored on Senior Day before the Syracuse Orange clash with the University of Connecticut at JMA Wireless Dome on Nov. 23, 2024. McCord is seeking an additional year of eligibility that would allow him to suit up in the 2025 season. (N. Scott Trimble | strimble@syracuse.com)
The Eagles add another new face to the Quarterback room and snag the QB who, in his senior year, threw for the most passing yards in the country. McCord will join Tanner McKee and Dorian Thompson-Robinson to fight for the backup QB spot for the upcoming season.
McCord’s arm talent is undeniable. He has the confidence and arm to make any throw he’s asked to make.
His biggest flaw at Syracuse was his decision-making. While he did throw for 4779 yards and 34 TDs, he also threw 12 interceptions. He’ll definitely have a chance to win the QB 2 spot, but it will come down to which version of McCord the Eagles and new OC Kevin Patullo are going to get.
The version that threw 4 interceptions (3 of them pick 6’s) won’t make the roster, but the version that threw for 380 yards and 3 TDs to lead a 21-0 comeback against Miami will be fighting hard for the backup spot.
