76ers Defeat Wizards 122-103 Ending 12-Game Losing Streak

For the first time since March 16, the Philadelphia 76ers have won a basketball game. The 76ers defeated the second-worst team in the league, the Washington Wizards, 122-103, behind a career night from Jeff Dowtin Jr.
Coming off the bench, Dowtin finished with a career-high 30 points and a career-high four steals. Lonnie Walker IV also had an impressive night, finishing with 24 points, while Quentin Grimes neared a triple-double, totaling 17 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Adem Bona also had a good night, totaling 17 points and nine rebounds
For the Wizards, Tristan Vukcevic led the way, scoring 24 points. He also added six rebounds. Justin Champagnie finished with a double-double, totaling 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Alex Sarr struggled, scoring only 12 points and grabbing only three boards.
Lonnie Walker IV kicked things off with a long three-pointer as the game tipped off. Marcus Bagley and Adem Bona followed up that three with back-to-back dunks. The Wizards finally scored after nearly three minutes of misses, with a pair of free throws from Sarr, and Kyshawn George knocked down a layup.
Walker stayed hot with another triple, and Sarr did as well with a dunk. Justin Champagnie scored a tip shot, AJ Johnson scored five straight points, and Jaylen Martin knocked down a mid-range jumper that gave the Wizards the lead.
The 76ers quickly took the lead back thanks to a layup from Bona, a pair of free throws from Quentin Grimes, and a long three from Jared Butler. Sarr knocked down back-to-back shots, but Bona answered with an alley-oop dunk. With just over a minute left in the quarter, Tristan Vukcevic knocked down a pair of free throws and hit a layup a possession later. Alex Reese knocked down a long three just before the quarter ended, giving the 76ers a 25-23 lead after the first 12 minutes.
In the second quarter, Jeff Downtin Jr kicked things off with a pair of free throws, but Vukcevic continued scoring with a layup. Ricky Council IV joined in on the scoring with a long three-pointer, but Bub Carrington and Martin each hit mid-range buckets.
The 76ers then went on an 8-0 run. Dowtin provided four of the points from a jumper and two free throws, Walker added a layup, and Colin Castleton slammed a dunk. After two minutes of no points for Washington, Champagnie ended that with a layup, and Vukcevic drilled a long three.
Walker scored another jumper, but George answered back with three points. Dowtin then knocked down a three and followed that up a few possessions later with a layup. Up eight points, Butler made it 11 with another long triple.
Champagnie then scored four straight points for Washington, and Colby Jones added on with a three-pointer. With just over two minutes until the half, Butler knocked down a mid-range jumper and followed that up the next possession with a long three to go back up nine. Jones knocked down a layup as the final minute of the half ticked down, and Carrington added on with a pair of free throws. Just before the buzzer sounded, Jones hit another shot that put the Wizards down 53-50 heading to the break.
Out of the break, George and Bagley traded three-pointers. Champagnie scored a layup but was quickly answered by another three, this time from Grimes. George added to his total with a pair of free throws, and Carrington drilled another mid-range bucket.
After a dunk from Bona, Grimes and Carrington traded threes. Walker added two more points from a pair of free throws, but George drilled a 31-foot three-pointer. Grimes then hit a pair of free throws, and Butler drilled a mid-range jumper.
Sarr then slammed a dunk, but was instantly answered with a three from Walker. After two-point buckets from both teams, Carrington then drilled another 31-foot three for Washington to put them within one.
Up 75-74, Dowtin drilled a long three to go back up four. After a pair of free throws from Vukcevic, Dowtin drilled another long three. After a bad pass from Vukcevic, Dowtin stayed hot with a mid-range jumper, and on the next possession, drilled another three for his 11th straight in a minute and a half.
As the final minute of the third quarter ticked down, Martin hit an eight-footer but was answered by a three from Grimes. Jones hit one of two free throws as the 76ers went into the fourth quarter up 89-79.
With 12 minutes to play, Vukcevic hit an and-one layup and free throw, and Champagnie hit a pair of free throws to make it a five-point game. Bagley and Reese each made a free throw, and Council made a layup to go back up nine.
After a timeout from the 76ers, Walker knocked down a pair of free throws, and Dowtin and Council both made two-pointers. Vukcevic drilled a long three, and Champagnie hit a layup, but Dowtin continued his impressive night with a mid-range jumper.
Walker then slammed a dunk, and on the next possession, was fouled shooting a three and made all three free throws. Dowtin then hit a layup, but was answered by a Vukcevic 17-footer. Bona and Council each hit a pair of free throws, but Vukcevic answered back with a pair of his own.
With just under three minutes left to play, Jones drilled a three, and Johnson hit a pair of free throws, but Dowtin continued knocking down shots, drilling an 18-footer.
Vukcevic drilled a long three, and Bona added another four points. The 76ers then began running out the clock as they defeated the Wizards 122-103, for their first win in nearly a month.
