76ers Lose 10th Game In A Row, Fall To Bucks 126-113

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, the Philadelphia 76ers lost. With the teams’ big three all now officially out for the remainder of the season, what’s left of the 76ers was defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks Thursday evening, 126-113.

Adem Bona had his best game as a 76er, finishing with 28 points, six rebounds, and three blocks. Quentin Grimes was also impressive in the loss, finishing with 24 points and 10 assists. Guerschon Yabusele also added 22 points and six rebounds of his own.

For the Bucks, it was a career night for Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak finished with an astonishing 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 20 assists, becoming the first player with that statline since the 1982-83 season. Kyle Kuzma finished with 16 points and four rebounds, and Brook Lopez added 17 points of his own.

As the game tipped off, the 76ers opened up the scoring with Adem Bona slamming a dunk and Jared Butler hitting back-to-back threes to make it 8-0. Giannis Antetokounmpo finally knocked down a shot, hitting an and-one layup and free throw. Ryan Rollins and Justin Edwards traded threes, and Bona continued his hot start to the game, hitting a pair of layups and forcing a timeout from Doc Rivers.

Out of the timeout, Antetokounmpo scored five straight points and Edwards hit a 15-footer. Brook Lopez and Bona then each hit a pair of layups, and Quentin Grimes drilled his first three of the game. With the 76ers up 24-15, the Bucks went on a run to get the game back to single digits.

Taurean Prince kicked things off with a layup, and Gary Trent Jr. drilled a long three. Butler and Rollins traded layups, but the Bucks had the game within four points.

With just over four minutes left in the first quarter, Guerschon Yabusele knocked down his first two shots, drilling a three and hitting a layup. Jalen Hood-Schifino and Lonnie Walker IV followed up Yabusele’s buckets with two-pointers of their own.

As the final minute of the quarter ticked away, Bona and Walker each knocked down tough twos. On Milwaukee’s final possession of the quarter, AJ Green drilled a long three as the 76ers went into the break up 39-25.

In the second quarter, the Bucks instantly went on a 15-0 run to take the lead. Green kicked it off with a long three, and Pat Connaughton hit a layup. Lopez then followed that up with a three, and Kevin Porter Jr. slammed a dunk. Trent then drilled another three for the Bucks, and Antetokounmpo slammed an alley-oop to make it 40-39 Milwaukee.

Now losing, the 76ers finally knocked down their first bucket of the quarter with Grimes hitting a layup. Antetokounmpo then scored four straight points, and Porter extended the Bucks’ lead with a mid-range jumper. Grimes then scored six straight points for the 76ers to tie the game at 47, but a layup from Antetokounmpo and a three from Kyle Kuzma gave the Bucks the lead right back.

With just over three minutes until the half, the 76ers continued to fight back for the lead. Bona hit a layup, and Butler scored an and-one bucket before Yabusele drilled another three. Prince then knocked down a triple of his own, but Butler quickly answered with a three of his own. With the game tied at 59, Antetokounmpo drove through the lane just before the half ended to put the Bucks up 61-59 as the team went into the half.

Out of the break, Lopez and Yabusele traded threes, but Lopez knocked down another shot. Bona and Colin Castleton both hit shots to tie the game at 66, but a 10-0 run from the Bucks, thanks to buckets from Kuzma and Antetokounmpo, regained them the lead.

Hood-Schifino then scored five straight points for the 76ers, and that was followed up by seven straight points from Bona to put Philadelphia back in front by one. Rollins then drilled a three, and Kuzman followed that up with back-to-back buckets. Yabusele then scored four points, and another three from Grimes put the 76ers back up one.

With just over a minute left in the quarter, Green drilled another three-pointer, and Trent knocked down a pair of free throws and followed that up with a tough three of his own. In the final seconds, Ricky Council IV hit a tough mid-range jumper, and Trent scored two more points, hit two of three free throws, as the Bucks went into the fourth quarter up 96-87.

In the fourth quarter, Bona and Yabusele each knocked a bucket. Antetokounmpo and Bona then began trading shots back and forth as Milwaukee remained in front by six. Porter then drilled a mid-range bucket, and Green drilled another three.

After two more points from Antetokounmpo and Porter, Prince then scored five straight points, one coming from a technical free throw after Nick Nurse was ejected from the game for arguing with the refs.

Now up 18 with under five minutes to play, the Bucks began to pull away from the 76ers. Kuzma drilled a long three, by Grimes answered back with three points from free throws. Edwards knocked a mid-range bucket, and Grimes followed that up with a long three. Lopez drilled a bucket, and Antetokounmpo followed that up with five straight points to put the Bucks back up 16.

With two minutes left, Yabusele drilled a three, and Lopez scored after a goaltending call. The Bucks then emptied their bench and began running the clock out as they defeated the 76ers, 126-113.
