Eagles Trade Kenny Pickett To Cleveland Browns

The Eagles have made a move.
Philadelphia has agreed to trade backup quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Nearly one year ago, the Eagles acquired Pickett and a 2024 fourth-round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2024 third-round pick and two 2025 seventh-round picks. Now, Pickett is again on the move, returning to the AFC North.
Pickett appeared in seven games in the regular and postseason for the Eagles, starting one of them, a Week 17 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Kenny also served as essentially the starter in Philadelphia’s Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders, as starter Jalen Hurts went down with a concussion in the first quarter, forcing Pickett to play the remainder of the game.
In his sole season with the Eagles, Pickett threw for 291 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while also rushing for 15 yards and one touchdown.
This move now indicates that third-string quarterback Tanner McKee will likely shift into the backup role behind Jalen Hurts. Meanwhile, Thompson-Robinson will serve as the third-string but still has two years remaining on his rookie contract.
Trading Pickett now gives the Eagles four fifth-round picks in this year’s upcoming draft, along with their own first, second, third, and fourth-round picks. With the losses of Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Isaiah Rodgers to free agency, the Eagles are prepping to acquire picks to help rebuild the depth of the already Super Bowl-contending roster.
