Flyers snap losing-streak with 4-2 win over Devils

The Flyers won 4-2 against the Devils at home and ended their 2-game losing streak where they only scored 2 goals in those games.
Let’s recap the game.
First period
The Flyers started strong and led 2-0 after one period of play. Bobby Brink was assisted by Rasmus Ristolainen and Travis Konecny to give the Flyers the 1-0 lead on the powerplay. Risto made a great pass to Brink who fired close to the blue line and beat Jake Allen after the puck deflected off of Brett Pesce.
Joel Farabee gave the Flyers the 2-0 lead only 28 seconds after that Brink goal. He took the rebound from a shot from Scott Laughton. It’s a goal that Allen would like to have back, as he couldn’t control the initial shot, and the rebound went through him.

Philly led the shot totals 9-8 after one.
Second period
The second period was more packed in terms of action. The Flyers scored early to make it 3-0. A shot from Cam York deflected by Garnet Hathaway, and also assisted by Ristolainen, gave the Flyers a 3-0 lead. After that goal, the Devils were the better team for most of the period.

Samuel Ersson made some key saves to contain the Devils’ offense. This push from New Jersey came right after a questionable hit from Nick Seeler on Nathan Bastian. There was head contact that’s for sure, but the ref gave only a 2-minute penalty and also gave the same to Dougie Hamilton for defending his teammate.
The Devils would finally break through Ersson. Hamilton scored his second goal in two games against the Flyers. The reality was that Travis Sanheim scored in his own net. He tried to direct the puck away, but he touched the back of Ersson and straight into the net. This sequence was created by a post from an initial shoot from Hamilton.

Third period
After leading 3-1 through 40 minutes of play, the Flyers needed 20 more minutes to pick up 2 points in South Philly. Nothing much happened in this period, only 10-6 total shots in favor of the Devils.
Although this low event period, the Devils made it interesting at the end. Timo Meier assisted by Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes, with the goalie pulled, scored and made it 3-2 with 1:22 left in the period. The Flyers still held to their lead, and Laughton, assisted by Konecny, made it 4-2 with the empty netter to end it.
