Eagles officially clinch playoff spot for 4th-straight season

For the fourth straight season, the Eagles will be playing postseason football.
With the Eagles’ victory over the Panthers, the Falcons’ loss to the Vikings, and the Lions’ Thursday night win over the Packers, the Eagles have officially punched their ticket to the playoffs.
Philadelphia has clinched a playoff spot before Christmas for the third straight season. In Nick Sirianni’s four-year tenure as the Eagles head coach, he has made the playoffs every time. Jalen Hurts has also had a playoff appearance in all four years as the starting quarterback.
Now, the focus turns to the NFC East and the one-seed.
The East can be clinched next week. If the Eagles beat the Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field and the Commanders lose in New Orleans, the Birds will officially be the NFC East champions. The Eagles may wrap up the division race prior to their three-straight games against their division, starting Week 16 in Washington.
The one-seed will be a little more difficult, however. The 12-1 Lions are the team that stands in their path.
The Eagles’ remaining schedule consists of hosting the Steelers, going to Washington, hosting the Cowboys, and then the Giants. That is the 14th easiest remaining schedule in the NFL.
Meanwhile, the Lions have the host the 10-3 Bills, go to Chicago, fly to San Francisco, and then host the 11-2 Vikings. That is the fifth most difficult remaining schedule in the NFL.
The Eagles would have to win out, and the Lions would have to lose two. Not ideal.
But in great news, the Giants and Jets were both officially eliminated Sunday afternoon.
