For the first time since 2017, the Eagles have won in Dallas. The Eagles dominated the Cowboys to a final score of 34-6.

With Washington losing to Pittsburgh today, the Eagles are officially in first place in the NFL East.

The Full Jalen Experience

Today’s game was up-and-down for Jalen Hurts. He finished the game 14/20 with 202 yards, 4 total touchdowns, and 2 turnovers. The Eagles offense did a great job of taking advantage of the turnovers the defense created, by putting points on the board.

Jalen’s pocket presence has been an issue just about his whole career, and it was pretty bad today. Even Tony Romo on the broadcast was talking about how much time Hurts had to throw, yet he was having happy feet and taking sacks. It seemed like the Cowboys were bailing out to stop Saquon, and seeing if he could beat them. He definitely struggled with it early, and it will be something to watch moving forward. Hurts also had a fumble in the pocket, something that plagued him early in the season. It seemed like Jalen left a lot of plays on the field today, especially in the first half.

Jalen also threw his first interception in five games today, coming in the end zone. Interceptions will happen, but this one came on something that has been worrisome all year from Hurts. Being late over the middle of the field. Hurts has struggled with being late with throws over the middle, and today it finally bit him.

But, Jalen turned his game around in the second half like he normally does. He and the Eagles offense scored 31 points while he was in the game, and while a lot of those points came with a short field, getting to 31 points is no small feat. Hurts finished the game with 4 total touchdowns, and both of his passing touchdowns came on great plays by him. He was able to step up in the pocket on both, and fire strikes to Goedert and Wilson for touchdowns. This game was the full 2024 Jalen Hurts experience.

Turnovers X5

The Eagles’ defense was dominant on all levels today. They finished the game with 5 turnovers, coming in all facets of the game. Yes, Cooper Rush and Trey Lance both stink, but holding a team to just 6 points is incredible, and getting 5 turnovers is incredible as well. Ever since the bye week this defense has been outstanding, and they continued their dominance today.

Howie Roseman did some great things this offseason, but one of the best things he did was sign Zach Baun. Baun has been a stud since joining the Eagles, and he had another great game today. Baun had 8 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. The Eagles have struggled to find linebackers over the past few years, but they have found some players in Baun, and Dean.

Two more great things Howie Roseman did was draft Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in rounds one and two of the draft. Mitchell may just be the favorite for defensive player of the year, and the defense has completely transformed since Cooper DeJean was inserted into the starting lineup. Not to mention DeJean gave the Eagles great field position with an awesome punt return. The early return on these two picks looks great for Howie, and it seems like we finally have some young talent on defense.

Looking Ahead to Thursday Night

The Eagles will have a quick turnaround this week as they will host the 7-3 Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football this week. The Commanders lost to the Steelers today 28-27, dropping them to second place in the NFC East. Because of the game being such a blowout the Eagles were able to get their best players a whole quarter of extra rest. This will be key for the quick turnaround, especially with some players having some nagging injuries. This game is the biggest game of the season, and I’m excited to see if the Eagles can keep this winning streak alive.
