The NBA’s investigation has concluded surrounding the 76ers’ big man.

“The NBA today fined the Philadelphia 76ers $100,000 for public statements, including by president of basketball operations Daryl Morey and head coach Nick Nurse, that were inconsistent with Joel Embiid‘s health status and in violation of NBA rules, including the league’s Player Participation Policy,” the league said in a statement Tuesday evening.

“The league’s investigation also confirmed that Embiid has been unable to play in the 76ers’ regular season games this season due to a left knee condition, and therefore his games missed have not violated the Player Participation Policy.”

Embiid, along with Paul George, has been sidelined through the first three games of this season.

The Sixers have been pretty suspicious about how this whole situation has been handled. And we got sort of a confusing answer.

So, basically, the Sixers were never really lying about Embiid’s status, but the public comments made by the team did properly reflect his health issues.

Embiid and George are both out vs. the Pistons on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Neither have a timetable to return.
