This game just felt right.

The Phillies played quality baseball for 9 innings back-to-back days. I don’t want to jump the gun, but are we back?

Tip of the cap to Kolby Allard

Against a loaded Royals offense, Allard pitched well and that’s all you can ask for. He worked his way out of a jam in the first inning and would go on to allow only 2 runs while eating 5 innings. Both of his runs came from the long ball 2 separate times. All 3 runs the Phillies would allow today would come from solo homers interestingly enough.

Jose Ruiz would take over after Allard, and he too allowed a solo bomb to Maikel Garcia in a quick inning, and then after that it was a breath of fresh air. The biggest thing that should jump out to you is Jose Alvarado. It’s not that he pitched one inning and didn’t allow a run, but that he worked out of a jam! Obviously, I’m probably getting ahead of myself and Jose might regress back tomorrow for all I know, but as somebody who loves Jose, it was nice to see.

Guess who’s back? Stubby’s back

It’s been an open secret that it hasn’t exactly been a great year at the dish for the beloved Garrett Stubbs, but if there’s any game to turn your season around on, it would be this one. Stubbs went 4-4 and was a home run away from the cycle!

Today as a whole was a big day for guys who had been struggling as of late, or just all season. Johan Rojas and Brandon Marsh both got 2 hits, Nick Castellanos had an eerily similar home run to his infamous dinger as a Red, Stott got a hit, and Bohm drove in 3 RBIs his first RBIs in over a week.

This is the first time in who knows how long that literally everyone in the lineup has played well, in back-to-back games, against a good opponent. Except for the Dodgers series I guess, rain or shine we seem to have their number.
