The Philadelphia Phillies take the trip down south tonight for the final series of their 6 game road trip. The Phillies take on the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park tonight in their second matchup with the Braves this season.
The last time the Phillies took on the Braves, confidence was not high in the eyes of many Phillies fans as we lost game 1 9-4, and game 2 12-4, but with the help of Ranger Suarez, the Phillies won game 3 5-4. Fast forward to the future, and the Phillies are leading the MLB with the best record in baseball. The baseball scene has changed in the past 3 months since the Phillies faced the Braves. Most importantly, the Braves have lost two cornerstones of their team to injury as Strider is out with a UCL injury, and Acuna is out with an ACL tear.
Flash forward to the present, and the Phillies are coming off a series with the Cubs where they took home 2 wins in the 3-game series with their team missing three starters. Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, and JT Realmuto are all injured. Although expected to return soon, it won’t be during this Braves series as Schwarber and Harper are expected to return July 9th. The injuries are quite a disadvantage for the Phillies, but both teams have seen their fair share of injuries. With Trea Turner and Alec Bohm selected for the All-Star Game, it is going to be necessary for these All-Stars to step up and make a statement in this 3 game series.
