With Thursday’s transaction of Alex Caruso being sent to Oklahoma City, one of the main targets for Philadelphia this offseason is off the table. However, the chances of snagging Paul George still remain despite the loss of Caruso.
In the past few weeks, rumors of Paul George heading to South Philly have been rampant. George just finished his 14th NBA season and his 5th with the Clippers. He was named an All-Star reserve this past season and is 33 years old.
George’s fit in Philadelphia would likely work out well. PG has found a home in the system of Indiana, OKC, and LA in his years in the NBA, so there’s no reason to say he won’t fit in Philadelphia. Gaining George would likely mean the loss of Tobias Harris due to cap space. This would help PG get the ball more in Nick Nurse’s system. George could easily find success with Tyrese Maxey feeding him the ball and Joel Embiid being a safety valve if he cannot score.
However, despite all the past rumors, it was just announced that the Sixers will not be aggressive towards George, but towards other assets this offseason.
Hopefully, Daryl Morey can find a way to bring PG to Philadelphia as he would be a massive help toward the Sixers’ attempt to win a championship.
