Phillies place Brandon Marsh, Kody Clemens on 10-day IL

Prior to the Phillies’ series opener with Rhys Hoskins and the Milwaukee Brewers Monday night, they made some roster moves.
The team placed Brandon Marsh (right hamstring strain) and Kody Clemens (low back spasms, retroactive to 5/31) on the 10-day injured list. They recalled infielder/outfielder Weston Wilson from AAA Lehigh Valley and selected the contract of outfielder David Dahl from AAA. To make room on the 40-man roster for Dahl, right-handed pitcher Michael Rucker was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Marsh left Sunday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals early after aggravating his hamstring rounding second base in the bottom of the eighth inning. Marsh immediately grabbed his leg and signaled to the dugout for a trainer.
Marsh had been hitting .265/.344/.426 with a .770 OPS in 52 games this season. He has been the most productive outfielder for the Phils and was returning back to form after a bit of a cold skid. The 26-year-old leads all left fielders with 5 defensive runs saved, as well.
Clemens was scratched from the starting lineup on Sunday with back spasms. He suffered the injury on his last batting practice swing and Whit Merrifield started in his place. Clemens has been electric off the bench for the Phillies, slashing .256/.293/.615 with a .908 OPS in 39 at-bats.
Luckily for the Phils, there is some depth in the positions that they are losing.
Wilson comes in replacing Clemens. He has had a slow start to his 2024 campaign, hitting just .211/.296/.390 with an OPS of .685 in 51 games. Wilson made his MLB debut last season, coincidently on Michael Lorenzen‘s no-hitter. Wilson hit a homer in his first at-bat.
Dahl, however, has been incredible this season.
Dahl was a free-agent pickup for the Phillies this past off-season to a minor-league deal, and it looks like it may pay off. Dahl spent most of his big league career with the Colorado Rockies from 2016-2020, before bouncing around over the last few seasons with the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and now the Phils.
David was an all-star in 2019 where he posted a .302 batting average. This season in AAA, Dahl is slashing .340/.416/.660, including a 1.076 OPS, with 12 homers.
He should replace Marsh’s at-bats for now, as a lefty. He makes his Phillies debut Monday night in left field batting seventh.
