Eagles extend Jordan Mailata on 3-year, $66 million deal

There was no doubt that this offseason was going to be a crucial one for Howie Roseman. With the pressure on, he has continued to deliver and keep this team in championship contention.
His latest move is the second massive contract extension for an offensive lineman as the rugby star turned top tackle in the league Jordan Mailata secured a 3-year, $66 million extension that includes $48 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus. The deal locks Mailata into Philadelphia through the 2028 season.
The $22 million-per-year average puts him behind only Laremy Tunsil, Trent Williams, and Andrew Thomas amongst the NFL’s highest-paid offensive tackles.
Mailata’s story has been marveled at for years especially now that he’s one of the premier Left Tackles in the NFL. He started out playing Rugby in Australia for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs for their under-18 team and the South Sydney Rabbitohs under-20 team.
He found himself in the NFL through the NFL’s international player program and was taken as a 7th-round pick, 233rd overall by the Eagles in 2018. Jordan has since become the outstanding blindside blocker for Jalen Hurts and a key piece in the Eagles’ run to Super Bowl 57.
Mailata has and will continue to be, an on-field monster, but also a key member of the Eagles locker room and will be expected to be a key voice in the locker room with the retirement of Jason Kelce on the offensive line.
