With the trade deadline at 3:00 pm ET on Thursday, the Utah Jazz have a few people on the Sixers’ radar, including Kelly Olynyk.
Olynyk is an 11-year veteran out of Gonzaga who has been a solid role player throughout his career with the Celtics, Heat, Rockets, and Jazz.
Olynyk immediately would compete for minutes with Paul Reed, who currently plays as the starting center with Joel Embiid out. He would give more size to an undersized Philadelphia backcourt with his 6’11 frame. Olynyk would benefit from a 76ers trade as he would receive more minutes than he would in Utah.
Kelly is averaging 8.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists while shooting an impressive 56.1% from the field. Most of his career has been spent on the bench, but he finally could get more time in the starting lineup if he heads to Philadelphia. Olynyk would be relatively cheap as Utah already has depth at center and a rising star in Walker Kessler.
Kelly Olynyk is a great option for Daryl Morey to target on the 8th, but other players are still available if Morey is unable to snag him. Andre Drummond is one of those players and he may be an even better fit than Olynyk.
