For the first time in Tyrese Maxey‘s young career, he was named an All-Star. The 23-year-old out of Kentucky his Sophmore and Junior seasons in the NBA as a borderline All-Star, but finally he received the go-ahead-nod to play in the game this year.
Maxey has skyrocketed in improvement from last year to this year and was almost named an All-Star Game Starter, falling just short in votes. His 25.7 points per game are the 14th most in the league and his equally impressive 6.6 assists are good enough for the 13th most. He is currently considered a frontrunner for the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award.
In the 2022 season, Maxey averaged 20.3 points while snagging 3 boards and 3.5 assists. His improvement is clear just by looking at the numbers. He is averaging almost 6 more points, 1 more rebound, and 3 more assists. This is a staggering development.
Philadelphia fans will be happy to hear that their number 2 guy finally got the recognition he deserves, but it all means nothing if Joel Embiid can’t stay healthy. Both players need to carry the team past the 2nd round of the Playoffs.
