The Philadelphia 76ers took down the 1 seed in the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves, in an impressive 127-113 victory. This is Minnesota’s 6th loss and Philadelphia’s 19th win. The Sixers continue to try and fight Boston and Milwaukee for the 1 seed in the East.

Joel Embiid put up his 2nd 50-point game of the season on Wednesday Night. He has simply played at an MVP level all season long and there isn’t really a debate about who is the most deserving of the award this year. At least there shouldn’t be. Embiid has carried the Sixers to a 19-8 record and has helped players like Tyrese Maxey evolve into great players. Maxey has been off to a fantastic 26, 7, and 4 stat line so far and couldn’t do it without the help of Embiid. Joel and Tyrese have been a perfect mend together and demonstrate incredible leadership and determination to put games away early. This game against Minnesota may not have been over in the 3rd quarter like most other games, but they were able to put them away around midway through the 4th. Joel Embiid’s 50-point performance is almost expected at this point, as he is averaging an outstanding 34 points per game. He is number 1 in the league in points per game, 5th in rebounds, and remains one of the best free throw shooters in the NBA.

If the 76ers keep winning against bad teams like the Pistons, but also win against tough teams like the Timberwolves, there should be no reason to think the Sixers are frauds (like the Eagles). Philly takes on Toronto in the Wells Fargo Center on Friday Night and is looking for their 20th win.
