Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers absolutely annihilated the Wizards 146-101 on Monday Night.
Philadelphia is now 15-7 and is 1.5 games out of the 1 seed.
Embiid recorded his 7th consecutive 30-point, 10-rebound game and was subbed out with about a minute left in the 3rd quarter, as Philly led by over 40 points. He is now averaging 44 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 68% from the field against the Wizards this year. All 15 players suited up and scored at least once against Washington, despite players like KJ Martin, Furkan Korkmaz, and Danuel House Jr.’s usual lack of minutes.
Joel Embiid had an unbelievable 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in only 30 minutes. He was subbed out of the game late in the 3rd quarter after just 30 minutes, as they were up by so much that they didn’t need him anymore. This has been a common occurrence for the former MVP and it is exactly what Sixers fans did not expect. Out of nowhere, this team has become a top-5 squad in the entire league and they’ve stayed around there for all of their first 22 games. If they continue to play like this for the rest of the season, they will be a serious playoff threat.
Nick Nurse has shown how great he has been for this team through the first 22 games. Doc Rivers showed a clear inability to adjust to issues and Nurse is quite the opposite. When a problem occurs, Nurse has been quick to switch up things, such as the lineup in order to slow down runs. Rivers sometimes wouldn’t even call timeouts in these huge runs, specifically in Game 7 of the ECF. Safe to say Nick Nurse has been a great addition to the 76ers front office so far.
Philly takes on the 2-21 Detroit Pistons on Wednesday in a game that hopefully will be very similar to how this one turned out.
