The 76ers defeated the Wizards 146-128 in Philadelphia on Monday Night thanks to the reigning MVP Joel Embiid having a career-defining night. Philly has now won 5 straight and sit as the 2 seed in the East. The Sixers have been simply dominant despite the media’s doubts to start the season.

Joel Embiid had a masterclass performance Monday Night, scoring an unbelievable 48 points with 11 rebounds in only 31 minutes. In fact, Embiid has one of the greatest quarters in Sixers history.

Yes, Sixers History.

Joel put up 29 points in the 3rd, shooting 10 for 10 from the field and 9 for 9 from the free throw line. He did all of this in 12 minutes. This is simply staggering. A run like this is only completed by unique, one-of-a-kind players.

The Process is definitely an example of that.

Tyrese Maxey scored 22 points along with dishing out 11 assists in another impressive performance by Philadelphia’s now Number 2 option. Maxey has been a star since James Harden‘s departure and if he continues to play like this, an All-Star selection shouldn’t be a surprise. Nic Batum on the other hand had a decent first showing in a Philadelphia uniform, starting off his Sixers career by going 4-5 with 11 points in only 17 minutes. Batum surprisingly had the highest +/- out of anybody on the floor, with a +30.

Philadelphia takes on Boston in Philly on Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. This will be a real test for a hot and hungry 76ers squad who’s looking for revenge in the rematch of the Eastern Conference Semis from this past season.
