With the 9th pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select, Jalen Carter.

The Eagles traded up 1 spot to select the defensive tackle out of Georgia. In return, the Chicago Bears got the 10th pick and a 2024 4th-rounder from the Birds.

Carter, who many think is the best player in the draft, had 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles for the Georgia Bulldogs last season and was a major part of their National Championship run. Carter has had character questions after he was involved in a car accident that killed a Georgia player and staff member the day after the National Championship game.
After Seattle selected Devon Witherspoon at 5 and Atlanta crushed some Eagles fan’s dreams by taking Bijan Robinson at 8, Jalen Carter to Philly felt like a near lock. The trade up to 9 basically made it official.
Carter will join former Georgia teammates, Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean, on this loaded Philadelphia defense.

With Javon Hargrave gone, expect Carter to slide right into a starting role on this defensive line. He will certainly be a welcome addition to a defense that set a franchise record in sacks last season with 70.
In his first interview after being selected by the Birds, Carter told ESPN, “The Eagles got the best player in the draft.”

This is definitely an extremely exciting pick for the Eagles, especially after coming up just short in the Super Bowl last season, a game lost primarily because of a poor effort on defense.

The Eagles still have 1 more pick tonight, as they are currently set to pick at 30. Howie already went and got one of his guys, so what will he do next? Stay tuned to Philly Sports Reports to find out!
