Stay hot — Mariners vs. Phillies Series Preview
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports
The Philadelphia Phillies continue to play dominant baseball in their seven-game homestand as they conquered the Colorado Rockies in a three-game series. Starting on Tuesday, April 24, they welcome in the 10-12 Seattle Mariners with coming off a series win over the St. Louis Cardinals this past weekend.
The Phillies’ pitching will continue to be a concern because of what has shaped up to be at the start of the regular season, but we will see what game they bring each day of the upcoming series.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the pitching can be against an interesting Seattle team where they have power. Some of the power players at the plate are Julio Rodriguez, Jarred Kelenic, and Ty France to name a few. These specific players can easily get going once they get in the grove.
The Mariners are currently in fourth place, four and a half back from the Los Angeles Angels who are 11-11 on the season.
It’ll be crucial for the Phillies’ offense to get off to a hot stellar start in the first two games of the series. Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm, and J.T. Realmuto to name a few are the ones that have a major impact on the offense on this current roster with Rhys Hoskins out for the whole season with a torn ACL.
The Phillies base-running game in this series should look a lot better, hopefully. They need to continue to limit the mistakes that have caused them to lose in the games in the past. We will see how well it’ll be once the series with Seattle kicks off on Tuesday.
