Ezekiel Elliott Interested in Eagles

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN former Cowboys Running Back Ezekiel Elliott has narrowed down his options to the Eagles, Jets, and Bengals.

It is somewhat shocking to see the Eagles as a finalist for Elliott, but it does make sense.

According to John Clark of NBC, Ezekiel Elliott wants to play for the Eagles. Lane Johnson has tweeted at Zeke the eyeballs emoji, while Breece Hall the Jets running back tweeted “I think we good over here”. After losing Miles Sanders to the Panthers the Eagles need more depth at the Running Back position. They signed Rashaad Penny but he is often injured. On a 1 year deal for little money, why not?

Last season with the Cowboys he rushed the ball 231 times for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns. He would not be relied on to be the bell cow back for the Eagles and he could help out in goal-line situations. There have been many rumors that the NFL could adjust the rules to take away the Eagles’ “push QB sneak” and Elliott could help in those areas. Zeke is nowhere near the player he once was, but he could be good in a limited role. At the very least, if he is bad it’s an easy contract to cut.

Whether or not Zeke comes to Philadelphia it is obvious the Eagles are not content with their RB room. The Eagles had Texas back Bijan Robinson in Philadelphia for a pre-draft visit earlier this week. Robinson is widely regarded as the best back in this year’s draft and could be in play for the Eagles with the 10th pick. Robinson would be a risky pick at 10, but he would be definitely a difference-maker. If you gave me a choice of Robinson or Zeke, the obvious choice is Robinson, but I doubt this potential move would impact how they draft.

The overall takeaway from all of this, the Eagles are not done adding at Running Back.
