The Philadelphia Union’s 2023 campaign initiates on Saturday night in Chester, PA as they take on the Columbus Crew, and the club has already begun taking steps in the right direction.

The club announced Tuesday morning that they and 97.5 The Fanatic, a sports radio station in the Philadelphia area, agreed on a new partnership agreement making them the Official Radio Broadcast Partner of the Union.

The Fanatic also broadcasts games for the 76ers, Flyers, and Temple.

“We’re thrilled to partner with 97.5 The Fanatic, a leader in Philadelphia sports coverage,” said Philadelphia Union President, Tim McDermott. “They’re an integral part of the city’s sports ecosystem and will help us ignite passion with our existing fans and inspire a new audience.”

Dave Leno, former pregame and postgame host for the Union, and former Union defender and pregame and postgame analysis Sheanon Williams will be on the call.

The Union used to be broadcasted on Fox Sports The Gambler, now they are headed over to one of the largest radio stations in Philadelphia.

This is huge for the Union. As an organization on the rise after its Eastern Conference Championship last season, they are gaining even more publicity with this announcement. Also, with the matches now being broadcasted on Apple TV, it gives fans who cannot afford the subscription to listen to the contests on the radio.

The MLS is a rapidly growing league and deals like what the Union built with The Fanatic will increase the league’s popularity.
