The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business in South Philly Sunday night. The win is a massive relief to Eagles faithful everywhere.
With the win, the Eagles now possess a 14-3 record, a division title, and the NFC East Division Title. While it wasn’t pretty, the Eagles have accomplished their goal, and now are focused on their NFC Divisional Round Game.
Giant Relief
The New York Giants most certainly eased the difficulty of Sunday’s game by sitting all of their starters and key pieces. This was a main reason Davis Webb and a cavalcade of second and third-string players could never get the ball moving and put up points until late in the game.
The depleted defense of the Giants kept the Eagles in reach with great redzone against the Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense.
However, the Eagles were simply better.
Eagle Eye Performances
The Birds were happy to have a great rushing performance from Boston Scott who, once again, torched the Giants.
It was also a welcome sight to see a commendable performance from Jalen Hurts on a very painful throwing shoulder. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith broke the Eagles franchise records for receiving yards and receptions in a single season, each respectively.
The star of the show was kicker Jake Elliot (5/5 FG, 1/1 XP) his clutch kicks from close and from afar assured the Eagles would secure the victory.
Conservative Coaching And Management Abundant
The most important part of this game was the way that the Eagles didn’t have to expend too much and risk any injuries while doing enough to win the game. The Eagles very clearly limited the playbook and had a vanilla offense that was visibly going half-speed a majority of the game, and it stalled in the red zone. Sirianni and the coaching staff were limiting Jalen Hurts and other key pieces from being injured or overworked. While people may be worried about how the Eagles looked on the surface, be assured this is nowhere near the same way the Eagles will be operating during playoff time.
The job is finished, a record breaking regular season is now complete. Now, the Eagles look forward to learning and preparing for their eventual Divisional Round Game in South Philly in two weeks.
